Family Matters: Meet the Taylors!
We’re excited to post our second installment of interviews with CVC families! This week, we got to catch up with the Taylor family. Debra and David Taylor have two grown children, Eliza and English, and now have added another grown-lady to their family - Sally! Also known as Szally vom Fluchtweg, Sally is well-known around CVC for being the mom of many wonderful GSD litters.

Tell us how you got your Cedar Valley dog Sally.
We lost a beloved Great Pyrenees and jumped the gun a bit too quickly on adopting another. The new dog had some behavioral issues that needed to be addressed. I had heard about Dave & contacted him. While he could have easily trained our dog, it became clear she had some serious health issues. Dave was wonderful in helping us make some tough decisions about her. A few months later, he called us & asked if we wanted a dog that he was transitioning to a home environment. We couldn’t believe our good luck. Needless to say, she’s ours. And in spite of me thinking Dave is an undercover agent or Special Forces, I’d have happily arm wrestled him to keep this dog!
What is your favorite place in Nashville you can take your dog?
We jokingly say we have the biggest dog run in the neighborhood. Sally loves being outside chasing all kinds of critters. She’s slowly taking care of our mole problem! She’s a very good traveler. We take her everywhere with us.
What is Sally's favorite thing to do?
Sally loves to be outside! She usually has her TOY that squeaks with her as she patrols around the yard. Her squeaking the toy as she runs actually gives the birds and squirrels she chases a fighting chance. She also likes to spend time in her pool (don’t ask)! And my favorite: she’s a really good cuddler- mornings with Mommy on the bed are the best!
If Sally were a movie star, who would she be?
Elizabeth Taylor! She’s beautiful. Knows it. But tolerates us mere fans anyway.
Describe Sally in three words.
Family oriented, smart, funny
And you now even have a CVC grand-dog! Can you tell us more about that.
Background: while we have had Sally, Dave has bred her twice. She makes beautiful puppies & is a great mom. Both of our kids planned visits home just to see the puppies & Sally. Birthdays. Celebrating the end of first year of law school. At Cedar Valley. John, who’s now our son-in-law was here for one of the puppy visits. He was beyond impressed with CVCs operation. So it was logical they would return to Dave for their first dog! They’ve seen firsthand how wonderful Sally has been. While our grand-dog lives in San Francisco, we get to see him on FaceTime. He’s going though training so he can ride on a plane to visit. But we sure miss that sweet boy!
